November 2008 e-Newsletter
It’s somewhat unusual to be able to pinpoint the arrival of a Houston heat wave right down to the hour, especially when that projection comes in the month of November. But a three hour heat wave is exactly what Houstonians can expect to see and feel starting on November 13, 2008 at 7 p.m., thanks to the arrival of the 9th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards.

During the early morning hours of Saturday, September 13, 2008, the combination of hurricane force winds, heavy rainfall and the extensive duration of the storm that delivered a powerful punch to the city of Houston, left the Houston Airport System (HAS) to deal with many challenges as a result of the catastrophic events.

When you think of an airport, you think of airplanes, flight attendants, security lines, maybe some unique shopping opportunities - but, hay? These days big round bales and neatly stacked squares of hay can be seen from the roads at both George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Ellington Field. It started as part of an employee suggestion program with an idea to use the open land around IAH and EFD to grow and sell hay.


July 2008 e-Newsletter
Massages, pedicures, manicures, facials and most anything else you would find at your average spa are now available at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Inaugurated this month, the new XpresSpa at Terminal D is the latest addition to the growing list of airport amenities at IAH. Ensuring customer satisfaction with a positive airport experience is the ultimate goal.

June 2008 e-Newsletter
Continuing its tradition of piloting important new transportation initiatives, the Houston Airport System, this month, welcomed the United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff at George Bush Intercontinental Airport's expansive Federal Inspections Services facility. Secretary Chertoff flew in to Houston to kick-off the Department of Homeland Security's latest transportation initiative known as the Global Entry Program.

May 2008 e-Newsletter
Beginning on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, Cathay Pacific Airways will launch three weekly, all-cargo flights to Hong Kong from Houston. This historic new service will mark the first scheduled all cargo service to Hong Kong from Houston and will become the fourth scheduled Asian, all cargo service from George Bush Intercontinental Airport.


April 2008 e-Newsletter
Terminal “B” is in for a brave move. It was a step up and be counted moment as Continental Airlines and the Houston Airport System broke the news about plans for the $1.2 billion renovation project at George Bush Intercontinental Airport’s Terminal B during an announcement that generated widespread excitement and media coverage.


March 2008 e-Newsletter
Qatar Airways today announced plans to strengthen its presence in North America by adding the southern US city of Houston to its growing international network later this year. Beginning November 10, the Doha-based airline will launch three flights a week non-stop to Houston using its brand new Boeing 777-200 Long Range aircraft. Frequency will rise to daily a few weeks later in December 2008.

El 20 de marzo del 2008, la aerolínea Singapore Airlines operará cuatro vuelos semanales, sin escalas hacía Moscow, Rusia desde el Aeropuerto George Bush Intercontinental con servicio de continuación a Singapore. Esto agrega dos destinos internacionales más a los aproximadamente 70 destinos internacionales que ya son accesibles desde IAH. Este servicio hístorico marca la primera vez que se puede volar a Moscow y Singapore desde Houston.
