Fueled by the strength of Houston’s domestic air travel market, Southwest Airlines today announced the addition of three new daily nonstop flights from Houston’s Hobby Airport (HOU).

On July 17, 2006, the carrier will inaugurate a new daily nonstop flight between Denver and Houston, with the intention to increase the frequency of this service to two daily flights on August 4th.

“Southwest is extremely pleased with the response we have gotten from Customers in the Denver market, and Southwest is delivering on the promise we made to increase service in response to customer demand," said Kevin Krone, Southwest Airlines Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Distribution.

Also in July, Southwest Airlines will add a third daily nonstop flight to Tampa Bay from HOU.

“We have a strong origin and destination market in Houston and the fact that multiple carriers are increasing their frequencies to our airports is proof of that,” said Mary Case, HOU airport manager.

Last year, 48 million passengers passed through Houston’s two commercial airports – Bush Intercontinental and Hobby. Conservative estimates indicate that by the year 2025 more than 80 million passengers per year will be traveling through Houston.
